On October 9th 2025 the Town of Stuyvesant Town Board will hold a public hearing to consider the adoption of the proposed 2025 “Town of Stuyvesant Comprehensive Plan”. This current proposal has been developed by a very dedicated volunteer committee, appointed in July of 2024. Members originally appointed were Tim Hotaling, Kristina Kwacz, Margaret Pino, Katie Vorwald, Paula Van Meter, Kim Mendez, Jim Werkowski, Bill Schneider, Quade Kirk, Cathy Knott, Kevin Haberland, Jason Demarest, and Nancy Dilley. This diverse group met regularly, sometimes weekly and worked diligently with a consultant team from Tighe & Bond to develop this important document and all should be commended for a job well done!
Our current Comp Plan was formally adopted in 1996. Since then there has been other relevant adoptions, 2006 Comprehensive Plan Review; 2010 Source Water Protection Plan; 2018 Stream Crossing Inventory; 2018 Columbia County Natural resources Inventory, and the Columbia County Ag & Farmland Protection Program.
The proposed Plan is a written document developed with public input with the intent to establish a vision, goals, and actions to guide the Town’s growth and land use policies to protect and maintain the Town’s unique agricultural identity. This Comprehensive Plan identifies the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and suggests what can done to meet them.
