The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a High Wind Warning for our area. We have been notified to expect 10-20mph sustained winds with gusts up to 50-60mph. The winds are expected from 7pm tonight through 8am tomorrow morning.
Damaging winds may potentially blow down trees and power lines. Scattered to widespread power outages are expected and travel may be difficult for high profile vehicles. We recommend you make sure your cell phones and other chargeable devices are fully charged. Check the batteries in your flashlights and be prepared if the power goes out. If there are widespread outages, it could be a while.
Additionally, a line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will rapidly track from west to east this evening. Winds will quickly shift to the west and strengthen. While the strongest winds will likely only last for a short window (2-4 hours) tonight, those winds will be capable of damage. Gusty winds will continue through the early morning hours and will gradually weaken.
Watch for blowing debris and tree limbs. Secure items around your homes. Use caution if you must drive.
