DID YOU KNOW? There was a small “amusement” park in Stuyvesant? It was above the dam in Stuyvesant Falls, on the little island in the middle of the creek (locally known as “Jeep’s Island”). There was even a carousel!

That’s just one of the many, many tidbits that Historian Cathy Knott will have available for reviewing on Saturday at our Annual Historic Stuyvesant Day community picnic. August 9th 12pm – 3pm at the Town Hall. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages will be provided by the Town and we are asking attendees to bring something to share — chips, a salad, a dessert… your choice! Come learn about the businesses, entertainment, and transportation in Town — it’s fascinating.
This event will be appropriate for new and long-time residents alike. There is always something you can learn about our little slice of perfection in Stuyvesant. Harold “Skip” Leiser (who believes he may be the longest and oldest resident being 86 years old and having been born, raised and continues to reside in Town) will be on hand for questions about pictures, artifacts, or where you live. His stories are legendary and always entertaining. Do you have a question that you think may stump him?
