We have been notified by NYS DOT that a culvert replacement will take place on Route 9J in the Town of Schodack beginning September 2nd, 2025. The culvert is located at 780 Route 9J, just north of the cemetery in Schodack Landing, a little down from the entrance to their firehouse.. They anticipate the construction will require 8 weeks to complete. To complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, Route 9J will be closed at the project site for a period of 8 weeks during construction and traffic will be directed to a signed off-site detour route.
The detour route for automobiles will utilize Columbia County Route 26A, US Route 9, Columbia County Route 21, and Rensselaer County Route 1. The off-site detour route for trucks will utilize US Route 9, NYS Route 9H, and NYS Route 150.
So, basically, if you normally travel north on 9J through Schodack, you will have to seek an alternate route beginning September 2nd and continuing for 8 weeks.
