Councilman Charles Stiffler, Highway Superintendent Joe Scrum, and Highway Dept employee Tony Link braved the chilly temps yesterday and today and did more work on the Veterans’ Park. They had a tedious task of measuring each block and cutting/grinding them to fit around the circle.
Then they started installing the military emblem stones. They had to mark the circle, pull the stones out and cut/grind each one to fit around the emblem stone.
Slow work but we are so thankful they are dedicated.
We are still accepting engraving block orders for any Veteran who lives/lived in Stuyvesant or has family in Stuyvesant. The blocks are $100 and can have up to 3 lines with 15 characters per line engraved on the block.
