The NYS Association of Towns has awarded the Town of Stuyvesant with their “Town of Excellence” Award.
The New York Association of Towns has launched a Towns of Excellence Program, a new initiative recognizing towns that exemplify outstanding leadership, innovation, and community commitment across New York State. Whether it’s pioneering sustainability efforts, revitalizing your downtown, fostering civic engagement, investing in staff development, or maintaining fiscal transparency, each town has a story worth celebrating.
What Is It?
The Towns of Excellence Program honors towns that go above and beyond in the areas that matter most to strong, thriving local government, including:
• Economic Development;
• Sustainability and sound planning;
• Community Engagement;
• Quality of Life,
• Governance and Transparency; and
• Workforce Development
Town Clerk Melissa Naegeli nominated Stuyvesant by completing the online application with examples of how the Town fulfills each of the areas listed above (the application is available to review here): TOWN OF EXCELLENCE APPLICATION
The Town was notified last week that they had been chosen for the award. Town Clerk Melissa Naegeli will go to NYC for the Association of Towns Annual Meeting in February to accept the Award on behalf of the Town.
The Town Board would like to thank all of the residents and volunteers who have worked over the years to make our community excellent.
